Hey peoples of the earth tom here writing my first blog as a keener. I am 14 years old and I'm from Switzerland witch is ten and a half hours from the wonderful and world renowned Ottawa river. This is my first time I have came to OKS keeners, I was introduced to this camp by my uncle Philippe Doux, he told me this is the best kayaking schools in the world he also told me it is were I would be able to learn new kayaking skills crazy fast as well as be able to speak and understand English much better.
At the beginning of the week things were quite difficult for me due to the language barrier, even when the coaches would speak for me it would be at time hard to follow along with their instruction. Now most people understand and for me they with speak slow so I have time to think and translate what they are saying.
On a different note the kayaking here is much different. For example the types of features we surf need a different technique. In others words, we have holes where certain tricks can be performed and here on the Ottawa there are mostly waves, so just the kayaking alone is something i have to get used to, let alone the language difference.
Even though there will be a few chalenges for me still to come, im ready and can't wait to get out on the water for another day. You have just read swissies first blog and to see what happens in the future you will have to read my next two blogs hope everyone that reads this is havving as much fun as i am here at Keeners. :) .

Hey Tom, thanks for the post, it was great to see you on the first day and your presence also makes it truly international school and enriches everyone's experience!
