The weekend is our time to rest and go kayaking. This saturday we decided to go to the Lorne for lunch instead of staying at Keenerville. We woke up to a frigid morning and some wind. We got dressed up in warmer gear for our day. Once we all got in our boats we were ready to go to the lunch spot for for a warm delicious lunch.
On the way there we were headed downstream and with the wind to our backs. It was a breeze. We got there in record time and we were still full of energy. The sausage and a hot chocolate helped with the colder temperatures. We decided to head downstream a bit further to see if pushbutton and Chopping Block were in. The water was a bit to high so we started our way back to Keenerville.
On our way back we encountered some pretty heavy headwind and we were now going upstream. This combination wasn't very fun, you had to work very hard to make little progress. By far the hardest part was from the Lorne to Macoy's. The current in this section wasn't too bad but the wind picked up. Once we got to Macoy's the energy level was down and I wasn't really feeling more surf. I had a couple of rides on babyface and that was a good time but we later floated back to Keenerville.
So is wind your friend or foe? The answer is that if you are heading downstream with the wind to your back then yes, wind is your friend. If you are heading upstream with a headwind the wind is definitely not your friend.
