Catching Garb by Alex lewis (Gingie)

Catching the Garb wave is quite simple but for those who have never surfed the wave before it can be a little bit confusing. So to help i have made a few simple steps to help you catch your first surf on Garb.

1. step one is to line yourself up to be facing up stream so that when you peal out you are not facing side ways so that when you hit the wave you do not flip. (example picture below)

2. After you are lined up stream you paddle up wards and out into the current. Once you are in the current you can make corrections so you are facing up stream. (example picture above)

3. As you come down into the wave try to catch it in the center of the foam pile or just a bit to the right- ( facing upstream right) of the foam pile and then obtain a controlled front surf.

4. After you have got a feeling for the wave and feel confident on it you can begin to do tricks. To do tricks you must recirculate to get back on top of the foam pile so you can gain speed by charge down the wave. To recirculate you surf to the right of the wave almost to where you flush out of the wave and then turn back left so you come up on to the foam pile. Then you paddle forward and charge down the wave and throw your trick. (example picture below)

I hope this helps you catch your first surf on Garb.
