On Wednesday, All of the keeners and 5 coaches went on a river trip to the Gatineau river, which is approximately a 2 hour drive from Keenerville.
The Gatineau river is a high volume river with pool-drop rapids, much like the Ottawa. Our day started by waking up at 6 in the morning, and going to wilderness tours for breakfast. We then started driving. The river is in Quebec, which is a french province, so it felt like we were driving into a different country. When we got to the put-in, we ate lunch then got on the river.
The first rapid was by far my favourite. It had 4 waves which were great to surf and an large sticky hole, so there was a few entertaining beatdowns that I got to watch. we stayed at this rapid for 2 hours so we could do multiple different lines. We then continued down the rest of the river which consisted of flat water and many more awesome, big rapids with some more surfing waves. Although there was a lot of flat water, and it was a long day, I really enjoyed this river trip.
We got off the water at 4:30, and had poutine on the way back to Keenerville.
