CPR is a very fundamental technique in the first aid world and it is especially important to kayakers because they work so close to danger. Today in the first aid training class we went over techniques to help save our fellow kayakers when they are unconscious and not breathing.
A couple of steps for CPR:
Step 1: Check to see if they are responsive by saying their name and tapping them on the shoulder.
Step 2: Put on gloves to prevent germs.
Step 3: Check to see if there is anything in their mouth by placing one hand on the forehead and the other on the chin and pushing back the head to see anything is there, if there is take it out.
Step 4: Do 30 chest compression and then check vitals again.
Step 5: Use CPR face mask to give two rescue breaths.
Step 6: Repeat!
