My Big Water Beatdown Thursday- Olivia
Big Water Beatdown Thursday. A bit of a mouthful. If you are familiar with the oks keeners website, then you have probably heard of the keener Thursday. Thursdays here are a little bit different then any old day at keeners. It's a day to conquer your fears, to try new things, and ultimately to try things that scare you. Now, my first Thursday was scary, but this one was terrifying. In reality all that we do at keeners, Thursday or not, is pretty safe. These moves are scary, but not dangerous. We were parked at McCoys for an hour or so before we headed down the river, which gave everyone a chance to looking for good lines and to improve my skills. The idea at McCoys is to run two lines that you haven't tried before. I was coaxed into a Phil's punch, to be led by Nick Troutman, and followed by one of my fellow keeners. Right before, I was extremely scared, to tears even, but Nick told me some rolling tricks that he uses to be less nervous. Before I knew it, he was calmly telling me to put my bow right behind his stern, and we were floating down river, into the trough of Phil's. The line was perfect, and I didn't even flip. Afterwards; I was so happy I'd done it so I could be less nervous about Phil's, and I was extremely grateful towards Nick for being an amazing coach and helping me push myself and be less nervous. Anna went into a tricky line in Sattlers, Horse Shoe, and Babyface, with me, to great success and many, many rolls. The day progressed and I got more confident in my boat, and in my fellow keeners and coaches. Today was awesome! What will next Big Water Beatdown Thursday be?
