The Gatineau River by Chloe Tippett

The Gatineau is a river about 2 hours away from Keenerville.  This river is a lot like the Ottawa. The stretch that we kayaked is 4 miles long and the level was about fourteen feet. That morning we woke up at six thirty to start our journey. When we got to the put in we ate delicious wraps that Wilderness Tours had made for us. After we were full we put on our soaking wet clothes from the day before. Finally, we put in on the first rapid. We stayed at this rapid for about an hour and did laps. There is a huge hole in this rapid called Lucifer’s. I surfed it and had an out-of-boat experience. We then set off with our group to run the rest of the river. The rest of the rapids were easier, but just as fun. Sadly, our journey came to an end when we reached the take out. Before driving back to Keenerville we stopped for poutine and ice cream. The Gatineau River was very fun and I highly recommend running it.
