Sebastian's last post

Repping Canada on Canada Day.
Hello everyone again. It is Sebastian here for the last time. It is hard to believe it is already my last week here at Keeners. The past two weeks have flown by; I still can’t believe the change of water levels here on the Ottawa. It has dropped about fourteen feet so far. I have been able to surf Minibus, cornerwave, chopping block and big kahuna. All have been great. On BWBDT we swam coliseum on purpose, which I have done before but this time I had some down time. At first it was scary, but now I feel more comfortable knowing that I can deal with that situation, if it should ever happen in the future.

Last competition Friday was great as I got to put up some points on the board and challenge myself. There is lots of time left in the week to push myself even more and keep trying new tricks and lines on the river. I have had a great time here and can't wait to see all of the new friends I have made here on the Ottawa and rivers all over the world.

Sebastian's second week

Hello again, this past week has been great I really got many opportunities here. Starting with surfing big kahuna and racing today. We started off with time trial races down little trickle. The two race times were combined to equal the final race time. I had a combined time of 142 seconds witch landed me in a three way tied first place. Downriver we had a boater cross at lower no name the first two races I came bottom six but in the mass start race of twelve I made it up by placing in second. Overall this has been a great first session so far, I have been in big water and now the level is dropping revealing all the great features I know. The big water allowed me to get to know the Ottawa better at more levels and provided great opportunities to push myself. I am super excited about big water beatdown Thursday tomorrow where myself and other keeners will push ourselves out of our comfort zone.

Sebastian, back again

Hey everyone, it’s Sebastian back at keeners again. This is my third time coming to keeners. This year there is only two returning keeners that I already know; this is great  I have made so many great connections and I get the oppritunity to make many more having a slew of new great paddlers to connect to. The past three days the water levels have been high and great this allowed some of the keeners including me to surf minibus, not at prime levels but it still made my day and still remains as the highlight of keeners so far.
Today was race day Wednesday, we had a boater cross race down Lower Noname on the middle channel the high water made the races great we had two pools A and B I made it to the finals in the A pool but did not come out of the race with a win. Overall the first three days have been amazing and I cant wait to see what’s to come next.

Last week

It's already the last week of keeners, everyone has accomplished a lot but there is still a whole week left to push ourselves and each other even further. Friday I landed my first loop and today stuck two more. Tomorrow we get to go to WT for breakfast and then get to go on a road trip to run The Seven Sisters of the Rouge. I am really excited to get this opportunity so I can dive into a whole other area of kayaking besides playboating and push myself to try new things. The Seven Sisters has many waterfalls of different heights to offer challenging but safe drops.

Week two begins- Sebastian

Competing in one of the Hunger Games Challenges!
The second week is only starting but it feels like its so close to the end. The first week has been incredible and I am so excited to make this week even better. This week we have two new coaches to add to the team Claire O'Hara and Deuce. Everyone here this session are all really fitting in and feeling more comfortable with each other. This is cool because this allows us to see each other's strengths and weaknesses, which allows everyone to help out each other and push ourselves to be the best. We have been having daily competitions this week in house teams to see what household can rack up the most points. Today I won the first competition to put our house in a three way tie for first. Tomorrow is race day Wendsday and Robertsons's is going to pull ahead and take the lead.

Back at Keenerville

Its my first week back at Keenerville and its been a great start. Two days in and i'm already right at home. It's great to re connect with all the returning keeners and meet many new. The levels here on the ottawa are lower than i'm used to but, there are always good lines to run and great play spots. So far the group has headed over to Garb, push button and corner wave to surf and practice for competition.
