Week 2
This weekend I wasn't able to paddle because I was taking a first aid course. Although I didn't paddle I was glad to obtain the new skills. I was also glad to rest a bumb shoulder. We also had the opportunity to practice going under a log, it was fun, and also made me more comfortable knowing that I would greater my chances if I were ever in that position. Today we did more Swift water Rescue Training and practiced getting in and out of pinned kayaks as well as rescuing them. We also worked on tethered swims and rescuing unconscious boaters who are upside down. Tomorrow is another big water beatdown day and I am looking forward to swimming in the pourover by garb.

Keeners First Week
These first
few days have been a lot of fun. The first day was interesting, not knowing who
would show up, as well as everyone else’s paddling abilities. After we all got
over that first few awkward hours though everyone realized that everyone had
that chill kayaker mindset. Getting back on the Ottawa was great everyone is a
solid boater and it has been extremely fun so far, although we have practiced
emptying boats and swimming. Today we started SRT and practiced with our
throwbags and swimming in and out of pourovers. Tomorrow will be interesting
though with Big Water Beatdown Bacon Thursday, I’m a little nervous but I’m
sure it will be a bunch of fun.
