I choose to kayak for a number of reasons. The main reason why i kayak is to have fun as when I'm on the river all that is going through mind is the paddle in the water. When your kayaking you can travel all around the world and visit many countries which can help to develop your mindset and create a wider range of communication skills. Travelling around the world kayaking can also show you how other people live. So far i have visited India for a two week kayak expedition as well as Slovenia twice and Scotland. When you kayak on the flat or whitewater everything clears out of your mind and you can finally think clearly. While in whitewater everything starts to make more sense to me as i don't have to sit and figure out equations and complicate my mind too much.
Another reason why I paddle is that its a niche sport and if you ask the average person they would know what kayaking is but have never done it. I choose to coach this sport too as its a small sport i want more people to know what it is that we do and for more people to kayak.
Paddling can also open up new possibilities and chances that you can't get by doing any other sport. I have gained many things during my few years of kayaking such as new friends to paddle with as well as developing my people and communication skills.
