On Wednesday, we took a road trip to the Gatineau river in Quebec. We had to wake up at 6:15 am which was very early. We ate breakfast at Wilderness Tours (which was SO good) and then we drove the two and a half hours to the river. When we got there, we unloaded all the boats, and then ate lunch. After that, we got split up into four groups which were named after the houses in Harry Potter. I was in Slytherin (Clay’s group) with four other kids. We put on the river and the scenery was so gorgeous. After a very short amount of time, we got to our first rapid called Lucifer’s rapid. It wasn’t as big as I thought it would be. People were telling me it was really big and scary, but it wasn’t too bad because the water level was very low. We ran that a few times, and there were three really fun play holes all varying in size. It was so sick. We then did races through the rapid which was also fun. After that we hit some flat water which was kind of tiring and boring but it was fun to practice bow stalls and flat water tricks like that. Soon, we got to a 30 foot jumping rock. It was so fun because you landed in a boil which was a very nice landing. It was scary but extremely fun. After that we paddled through more flat water, and then we went trough High Tension which was super fun even though the wave wasn’t in. After that rapid there was flat water and then about 15 minutes later another rapid with a small drop into a curling wave. It was super fun. After that, we paddled about 40 minutes of flat water, and then a small wave train, and then we were at the take out. We loaded the trailer, then drove to get poutine. It was the first time I had ever tried it, and it was so good. After a long, super fun day, we drove back to Keenerville, where we ate dinner and then rested until we tiredly went to bed!
