Competition Friday at keeners-Thadeus Hayes
Friday at keeners is one of the best days at keenerville. In the morning we all gather in the thunderdome to talk about the day. We discuss the point system and decided what wave we wanted to compete on. The three choices were garburator, push button and moustache wave. Many people had chosen garburator and push button but only about half a dozen did moustache wave. Among these six I was one of them. I paddled on moustache as I thought that if I started with a feature that is a little bit flushy then I can get the moves down so when I go onto a bigger wave such as garb I would be able to throw down all the moves that I could do on the smaller wave but with more air. After lunch that day we all went back to the waves that we were practicing on and had a few more training rides. Once those rides were over it was competition time. We all had two rides which were 45 seconds long which meant that you had to throw every move that you could do in that time to get the best score. While we were competing Everyone was throwing down their best tricks while staying stoked and having a smile on their face. I was pretty happy with what I was throwing around as it’s a tricky feature to stick moves on. After we finished paddling we went back to keenerville and watched everyone’s rides which had been recorded so that we could decide everyone’s score. The winners were Ethan Frangenberg on garburator plus his sister Julia on push button. The winner of moustache was me which I was very surprised at as after I performed a move on moustache I would either flush off the wave or have to paddle hard to get back on it.
