Over the past two days a good portion of this session’s keeners have been undertaking SRT(swift water rescue technician) training. Yes, white water hero training. Though not as fun as kayaking the Ottawa, it was nonetheless an interesting course, and nowhere near as mind-numbing as wilderness first aid. I can guarantee you that none of our SRT trainees were falling asleep while swimming garburator. Over the course of these last two days, me and many other keeners learned a lot of different ways to save people in danger on the water (throw bags, tethered swims, etc.). All of us are now certified in SRT! So if any of you fellow kayakers are ever in trouble, you know who to call...
