On Monday, five other Keeners and I choose to be in Steveo’s paddling group for the day. We started the day paddling down flat water to get to Garb, and we surfed there a bit, working on blunts. Then, we went down to push button to work on loops and blunts some more. We proceeded to go to lunch, where I ate a delicious veggie burger, but little did I know that the real fun would begin after that. Our group decided to hike up a bit and paddle back up to Keenerville and Babyface to surf and watch video review. As we were paddling up the same flat water we came down on, Steveo pointed out a little cove called Pirates Bay. He asked us if we would rather take a “magical adventure” and find our way back to keenerville from there, or take the same boring flat water we have been taking every day. Of course, we all chose the “magical adventure,” except for Patrick, who was in a carbon boat. Anyways, majority rules, so we all found ourselves paddling through lily pads. We got to a bank full of trees and rocks. We paddled over to the rocks and popped our skirts. We jumped out of our boats, only to land in mud. Feet completely covered in the mud, shoulders carrying boats, we hiked onto rocks, and into the forest. We passed through endless fuzzy ferns. We also passed through endless poison ivy and poison oak, but it’s okay. We got eaten by so many bugs to the point where my friend Emmit had about five bites in one spot on his arm alone. We walked over a skinny log that sufficed as a bridge over a mud pit. As I was walking over that log, my boat scraping the trees, all I could think about was Patrick’s carbon boat and how scratched up it would be. But it’s okay. It survived. My legs were covered in bites and scratches, but I still managed to listen to Steveo’s voice, calling to us to where he was, and all of a sudden I found myself by the point. I saw the familiar sight of the bottom of McCoys. We were so close to Keenerville! I briskly made my way to the swimming rock, and then, finally, I saw Yakistan! Home sweet home! I put my boat and gear down, and lathered Anti-Poision ivy paste on my legs and arms, then rinsed everything off in the spiket. I then made a Pop-Tart, and then went into the thunder dome to watch video review. But our group now knew we had done something special that every group would obviously be envious about — we had went on a super epic extremely magical adventure through the woods!
