Muscle rehabilitation at keeners: live to kayak another day: Finnian Donovan

We go to Keeners to progress our kayaking so obviously we are out on the water a lot almost 7 days a week for three weeks. Keeping in mind how awesome it is to paddle with your mates everyday and have the time of your lives it is also super tiring mentally and also physically. This is where you need to start  preventing future injuries which will restrict your kayaking time.
At Keeners we do morning activities which help wake us up and make us functional for the day ahead, we go for runs, play Frisbee, football and so many more games however from being a keener  for two years I know first hand that this is good but not enough. It is very important that you take your well-being into your own hands and that is why I do the following.
After a day on the water I love to stretch even if it's only for ten minutes. Stretching after a long session will loosen you up and you won't feel as stiff as your mates will the next day which means you throw bigger tricks and crush big lines. Some stretches I like to do are good mornings, downward dog, tree pose, deadbugs and deadhangs(requires bar or rings). These stretches really help me when I kayak for long periods of time and also help me get a better night of sleep. Have fun and kayak another day!
