Why does whitewater empower me? Emmett Jaynes

Moving water, adrenaline and white noise.
Whether I'm kayaking or just near whitewater it has an effect on my being. My adrenaline and addiction for kayaking began as my father picked kayaking back up and immediately got me and my older brother hooked. Pushing my limits and doing bigger water than normal gives me a feeling that nothing can compare to.

As I began to learn to kayak, before I ran the rapid I’d always scout it a pick a line to run. This involved reading the water

The way the water flows is something of an art form, learning water patterns and how to read it takes a lot of skill. The ability to see hazards underwater just by looking at the surface takes a keen eye, some are able to read the water like a book looking for hazards: boils, undercuts, rocks and more. All these skills are critical to a kayaker as they need to know what to avoid as they choose their line.

The community and shared passion for the love of whitewater and kayaking itself
is amazing. Despite the fact that whitewater kayaking is so nsport but it is not a bad thing in my mind. Because of the tightness of the community we are very supportive and always help each other improve on either their play boating or river running skills.

The empowering yet calming form that whitewater is has imprinted itself on the kayaking community and has made us into the best form of ourself bringing me to my knees.
