This weekend, we Keeners were without our designated mom, Anna. Her absence made me realize how important she is to the program, and how much she truly has to put up with (albeit, lovingly). Earlier this week I injured my hip doing who knows what, and of course, Anna was the one to tell me what I hurt and exactly how I hurt it. Side note; not stretching and kayaking 7 hours a day do not mix. Another Keener got foot rot earlier this week (how he managed it in two days, I don't know) and
Anna was the one to diagnose, and insist on treatment, of the foot. As the weekend rolled around, my hip was feeling better and the other Keeners' foot rot was disappearing; though I chose not to check for myself. Waking up Saturday morning, I chose not to stretch. Without Anna around to tell me (a 17 year old) to stretch, it just didn't happen and it gradually went back to hurting until I finally stretched it out again on Sunday afternoon. Now remember, this was only two days without Anna. I personally, can't imagine Keeners without her, and I'm certainly not the only one who feels this way. So, thank you to our amazing Keener mom for putting up with everything from insomnia to foot rot to spontaneous piercings, we love you Anna!
