Today was our last day on the main channel for the 2017 session 1 keeners. We were woken up at around 8:30am by Anna our camp mum witch was a lenient wake up as we are normally worked up at around 7:45am. When we put on the river we started off with our normal flat water warm up; ford paddling back paddling and lean cleans. We were all made to hand roll to prove that we were capable of running small rapids without our paddle. That was our next task, we all had to run initiation.
The second task of the day was to go and try and get worked in a small hole called Fills. Fills hole is capable of working someone if they can stay in the the left shoulder. Normally everyone is type writer out to the right shoulder and flushed. A lot of people would not hit the left shoulder and would just be flushed state away.
We moved on down the river to Mini bus and Big bus which all 21 keeners and coaches followed each other down like a Choo Choo train and plugged the tongue of the holes. The hole on the river left is Mini bus and right is Big bus. The tongue of the two holes is in-between the two of them. We went state through the middle and went to the lunch site. We had burgers and hot dogs with hot chocolate and juice.
In the afternoon we went back up to the two hole with the same intentions as sin the morning of getting worked in them. I managed to get smashed in big bus and lost my paddle whist getting a beat down. Even though it was probably my best ever beat down which would never hold up against a lot of the other keeners performances. We went on to butches knife which at the current flow just forms whirl pools along the eddie line on river right. Whirl pools are not my thing but the majority of the group loves them. After the majority of them had left down the river I had my first try in a whirl pool and just fully subbed under the water and then they pop you back out.
Coliseum is the last main rapid on the rapid and is a huge series of waves that at this level are mainly green apart from the 3rd which has the capability of being surfed. I did two runs of collie and then just made my way down to the get out.
