This is my last blog I am writing for my last week and over the three weeks I have been here I have had tons of fun, picked up lots of new skills and met a bunch of great people.
Today was big water beatdown thursday and since this was my last week Jack and I decided that we should take the dynamic duo kayak into right side Phil's hole, which is the more trashy half. Jack and I floated into the hole sideways, ensuring that we would get caught in it and this resulted in a holy beatdown that lasted for over a minute in which I lost my paddle within the first few seconds so I had my arms flailing about for most of the run. Jack and I then happened to pull our spray skirts at the same time and floated down the river unharmed, the duo however was dented and scratched from floating down the shallow right side horse shoe full of water.
Previously over the week on wednesday we did the upper Penawawa river in which there was a 45 minute walk in but it was worth it due to the many drops and holes to practise our boof stroke on. Last friday was competition friday and I managed to score 85 points, the same as Hamish Mackay but due to my previous run being higher I was awarded the gold ribbon and because I had achieved first place in the race day and best beatdown last week I had received all three ribbons. Unfortunately upon re-looking at my rides they discovered I had been scored for three spins and my title was forcefully taken from me, if I can win next friday the triple ribbon will be back in my grasp.
Over my three weeks here I have had tons of fun and I'd like to thank my and Jack Paulins parents for helping to fundraise to make this possible, the memories, friendships and skills I received here where unforgettable and id like to say goodbye for now.
