Today, Wednesday, we went to the Petawawa, a river located in Algonquin Park. The day started early with a 5:45 wake up time. But this early wake up was totally worth it because we were paid back in an amazing breakfast. Irvings, a small diner on the side of a gas station supplied all of the keeners with their fuel for the day. I munched on a large plate of bacon and eggs, with toast and home fries. It was beautiful.
An hour and a half after leaving Irvings, we made it to the hike in spot. Although the hike in was 45 minutes, time flew by. Kalob had his speaker with him playing some pump up music as we trekked along the old rail road line.
Put in. We made it to the put in and right away we had the first rapid. A 6 foot boof into the pool below. This was my first larger boof so I was nervous at the start, but after seeing everyone else love it, I jumped in. One stroke, two stroke, get ready... BOOF STROKE! BOOF! I land softly on the aerated water. Time for a second lap!
Down Stream. The Bridge.
35 foot bridge above the water. Lets jump! The hike up to the bridge is steep and rocky but easy enough. Up on the bridge looking down, the jump really does not seem that bad. Should be simple. Time to cross the railing. I climb over and instantly the bridge is 30 feet higher. What happened!? Ok still have to do it, I'm this far already. 3,2,1 Jump! Now fall... and fall... and SPLASH. "That was sick!" Time for a second lap.
