This week was an exciting one for the Love Shack. We started the week off with some morning activities which included running, stretching, and other exercises. The Keeners put on the water each day at about 9:00 a.m. and begin the daily warm up. Afterwords, we typically split into smaller groups that focus on different surfing locations on the river. We have run the Main channel every day so far and our play spots have included Corner Wave, Baby Face, Garberator, and Push Button. These features all differ in size, speed, volume, and shape. The best features are clearly Corner Wave and Garberator, a steep glassy wave and a fast, ferocious, foamy wave, respectively. The members of Love Shack have been throwing down consistently on every feature that the Ottawa River has to offer. Blunts go well both ways on Corner Wave and Garberator and Poo-Screws have been frequent. On Wednesday, the Keeners had a race through the Norman's and Coliseum rapids. The races were boater cross style made up of two tiers. Although we didn't officially "win", the members of Love Shack were the best racers that day. On Thursday, many beat downs were had by all, especially those of Love Shack. The weekly Friday Keener Competition was on Baby Face, a pooey, boily wave at the bottom of McCoy's, slightly downstream of the far superior Corner Wave, and upstream of the even more superior Garberator. Once again, although Love Shack did not place in the competition, we were the best paddlers.
Thanks,
Love Shack
