Been having a really really exciting and awesome day. We paddled the Rouge today- which is a different river about 3 hours away. I always remember that "Rouge " means RED in French, because Red is such a rouge (as in bada**) color.
The section of river that we ran is called the Seven sisters. The seven sisters are seven different waterfalls, ranging between 5-15 feet tall. I ran five of them.
The first sister was upstream of where we put or for the water was just too low for it to exist today. That is what Tyler said to one of the keeners, but I don't really understand how that works.
My favorite one was the third sister- the second one we ran. It was right below another waterfall that I decided not to do, because it can push you into an eddy that makes it really hard to get to the good line on the second drop. (Third Sister.)
I put in inbetween the two drops, peeled in and went down it.
I was nervous at first, but then I got into the zone, and was really exicted after I ran it.
I wasn't scared of the last one, which was a bumpy tounge slide and super fun.
On the Sixth sister, I had a little beatdown, but I was stil really happy when I came out of it- Im not sure why. I was still
glad I ran the rapid, and the beatdown wasn't too bad, because I was strangely calm during it. Maybe because I knew i had such
good safety downstream!
I was feeling so happy at the end of the day. Im excited for my last two days at Keeners, but sad to leave on saturday.
