After nearly two weeks of kayaking on the Ottawa, complete with learning and fun, us Keeners find ourselves at another Wednesday, meant to develop our racing skills. In the morning, we surfed at Garb and Push Button, and after lunch we began the races. To start us off, we raced boater-cross style on the Lorne rapid. We were to go down however we liked and reach a gate, then go back up and enter the Garborator wave, and go down the middle line, to the finnish. It was a blast, and by the end of it, we all found ourselves out of breath, yet with smiles on our faces. After that, we made our way to Norman's rapid and raced boater-cross again, in heats of three people. There were many boats getting air, lots of flipped kayaks, and hard paddle strokes, all making to close finishes. Soon after, we raced time-trial down Colosseum, and then through center-slot, a large hole near the bottom of Colosseum. Against the clock, we raced one by one down the course. Times varied from one to two minutes, and we all had so much fun.
To finish the day, we laughed and talked about our races while paddling back, went for dinner, then relaxed back at home. An exciting, intense, and fun Wednesday made for many tired keeners, ready to rest up and save energy for a new day.
