Marleigh Week Two

Hey, It's Marleigh again. It's my second week here at keeners and it is awesome! We finished our swift water rescue training today. Joel pinned a boat to the bottom of a smaller rapid and we had to escape from it. We also had some random rescue situations. Today we did a lot with pinned boats. A "pin" happens when your boat or body gets stuck under something- like a rock or a log on the river. You can also get pinned to a rock by the force of the water if you are at a bad angle. Stephen was pinned on a rock to the left of Waikiki, so we had to throw a throw rope across the rock to pull him up and out in order to save him. After Chopping Block Joel got pinned on a rock, and we were able to pull him out.  It was pretty fun getting to save the coaches for once, instead of having them save us! Overall, it's been pretty great.
