On the last Wednesday of the session, all the Keeners load up the vans and take a road trip. The first session of 2019 took a trip to the Gatineau river. We ate lunch at the put in, then hit the water. The first rapid, Lucifer, was where we spent the most time. We spent most of our time surfing waves around here. One of the worst holes was called Lucifer’s push up word. Several people dropped in intentionally and almost swam. Afterward we ran more of the river until we came to a cliff above the last rapid. After a couple jumps, we moved on to finishing the last rapid, and paddling across the flat water to the takeout. Next we loaded up the boats, and headed to a roadside poutine for a snack. We got back to Keenerville late that afternoon and ate more dinner. Over all, Keener travel day is the second best day to second to BDT (Beatdown Thursday).
