Keener Blog: Why Race Wednesday is important
Today at Keeners was Race Wednesday. On Race Wednesday, we compete in two or three races down various whitewater rapids on the Ottawa. Race Wednesday is very important in many different ways. One way it is important is that it teaches us proper paddle strokes: forward, backward, and sweep strokes. These paddle strokes are super important to perfect because they help us when we are paddling in bigger or more technical water. Another reason Race Wednesday is important is because it teaches us how to navigate a rapid while out of breath. This is important because if you can run a tough rapid out of breath, that means that you can run it super easy when normally paddling. Overall, I think Race Wednesday is both important and fun!!
