Paddling the Poudre vs. the Ottawa by Connor Gagliano

My home river in Colorado is called the Poudre River. It is very small compared to the Ottawa. There
are no waves to surf like Garb or holes to surf like Push Button. The best creeking that I've done is the narrows. It is the most fun part of the river because it is a 100 yard stretch of fun whitewater that is continuous. The Ottawa also has very weird boils and eddy lines at the bottom of every rapid whereas the Poudre only has the runout of fast moving water. I like how the Ottawa is very forgiving and if you swim you will flush out of the hole. I like the Poudre because it is my home river, it is roadside and it is always fun no matter where you go. I don't like the boils at the end of the rapids on the Ottawa but I don't like how shallow the Poudre is. These are some of the differences of my home river and the Ottawa River.
