Kate Johnson First Time Keener Week Two

Scouting the Lorne Rapids
Hello again it's Kate Johnson a lot has happened here in Keenerville since I last posted. We had big water beatdown where I learned the importance of rolling in white water. There was also competition Friday where I surfed my first wave even though I wasn't on the wave for a long time it felt awesome to catch a wave!

On the weekend many people went out padding in groups but a few of us (about ten) spent Saturday and Sunday learning CPR and First Aid. I really enjoyed this class even though it took up most of the weekend. Greg the instructor was amazing he had us doing everything it was a very hands on course.

Practicing how to rescue people using
throw ropes during SRT
The past two days have been unreal! I have been finding white water kayaking kind of hard to get so spent the past two days with James one of our coaches working on all the specifics that would help me improve quickly. Within the past two days I have learned to white water roll, river instincts, and most importance confidence. I can't wait to get back on the water tomorrow!!
